WHITPAIN TWP., Pa. – A crash on Route 202 in Montgomery County on Friday morning seriously injured two people. Both are now in the hospital in serious condition.
The crash occurred at 9:45 a.m. on Route 202 (Dekalb Pike) in the vicinity of Cherry Lane in Whitpain Township.
According to the police, a silver Honda Accord collided head-on with a brown Jeep Cherokee. The driver of the Honda was identified as 76-year old Phillip Gardock while the Cherokee was operated by 23-year-old Brian Kiester.
The collision caused the closure of Route 202 between Skippack Pike and Jolly Road while police investigated. After the road was cleared, it was reopened shortly after noon.
Both men were seriously injured. Phillip Gardocki was immediately transported to the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania in serious condition. At the same time, Kiester was taken to Paoli where he is also listed in serious condition. Until now, no news has been given out regarding their current condition.
Police continued to investigate the cause of the crash. They are trying to find out whether one or both drivers were DUI or distracted while driving or something was wrong with the vehicle. After the investigation, the police will be filing charges against persons guilty of the crash.
