Personal injury crash investigated by police

After a two-vehicle personal injury crash that took place last day of January, Del State Police arrested a Lewes man for driving impaired with alcohol and he is now facing assorted other charges.

According to the report of authorities, the incident took place at about at about 6:00 o’clock in the afternoon. The suspect was identified as Jeffrey Dorsey, age 31, and a resident of Lewes. He was behind the wheel of his model 2008 330i BMW traveling westward along Rte. 24 in the vicinity of the Campground in Holly Lake, Angola. For unknown reasons, Dorsey’s vehicle swerved toward the double yellow line and entered Rte. 24. He was then heading east where his vehicle was about to crash with another vehicle. As Dorsey returned his BMW towards the westbound lanes of Route 24, he rear ended a Jeep 2004 Liberty operated by Brandon Munoz-Cedillo, age 21, resident of Georgetown causing the jeep to overturn.

Fortunately, Dorsey was uninjured after the crash but he was apprehended by traffic police and is now facing the following charges: (1) driving while impaired with alcohol; (2) two counts of a 3rd degree vehicular assault; plus (3) several other offenses. After scheduling his arraignment in the Justice of the Peace Court 3; he was confined to the Sussex Correctional Institution for he did not have $2,262 for his bail.

Sustaining non-life threatening injuries, Munoz-Cedillo and his 22-year-old male passenger from Millsboro were both transported by the Emergency Medical Services to Beebe Healthcare foe evaluation and treatment.

The man from Delaware was arrested for driving DUI that allegedly caused the injuries of two others in a car accident.

Del man was operating his BMW going west when for unknown reason; his vehicle went across the oncoming lanes of the roadway. He nearly struck another vehicle as he transferred into another lane. As he went back into the former westbound lane, he rear ended a Jeep.

The impact caused the Jeep to overturn. Two people, the driver and a passenger, were inside the jeep and both had to be extricated by emergency crews. Requiring medical attention; they were transported to an area hospital. They sustained non-life-threatening injuries but it required treatment. The BMW driver responsible for the wreck was arrested. He is now facing several charges, specifically DUI and vehicular assault.

The alleged alcohol impaired driver who was responsible for the car accident has to face criminal charges and bear the brunt of potential penalties.
