At least one person died after a Sunday night car accident in South Jersey.
According to Police of Hamilton Township reported that at about 8:15 o’clock in the evening, a pedestrian was hit by a Honda 2008 Civic that was going east along the Black Horse near the City of McKee.
For the moment, the pedestrian was not yet identified and was pronounced dead at the scene due to critical injuries.
The operator of the other vehicle was Caterina Giordano, age 58 and resident of Waterford was rushed to the AtlantiCare Medical Center sustaining injuries that med staff considered non- life-threatening.
Police are puzzled by the circumstances leading to the accident and they are continuing their investigation. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information is requested to call the police.
As police were investigating the crash, they were able to identify that the pedestrian who was killed during that Sunday night crash along Black Horse Pike .
The fatality was John W. Clayton, age 45, and resident of Egg Harbor Township He was killed while crossing the road along 52.5 milepost. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene due to critical injuries.
Authorities were not able to identify the fatality at the onset for he did not have any identification on him, police stated last Monday.
Witnesses told police that they saw a Honda Civic driven by 58-years-old Caterina M. Giordano from Waterford Township, Camden County. She was traveling east along the pike and hit the pedestrian.
After the crash, Giordano sustained minor injuries and was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment.
As of Monday afternoon, the police said that no charges were pending against the driver. The crash is continuously investigated by authorities and witnesses are requested to call the police.
Due to the mishap, authorities closed down the pike between the Road at Wrangleboro and McKee Avenue for several hours as police investigated the crash.

Hamilton Township police confirmed that 45-years-old John W. Clayton was hit by a vehicle operated by Caterina Giordano, age 58, resident of Waterford Works. Due to critical injuries, Clayton was pronounced dead at the scene.
To complete the investigation, police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident to contact Detective Larry Fernan.
